Marine Cargo Surveys Ltd  (MCS) was established by John Sherburn to provide an independent and professional survey experience at a competitive cost. After nearly 40 years of carrying out surveys in both the UK and around the world from the Americas in the West to Japan in the East. 

MCS provides a prompt response to survey requests and early preliminary reports highlighting initial findings followed by expert handling of claims. In this regard we work with both insurers and the insured to enable claims to progress swiftly and efficiently.  Advice and guidance will be provided to maximise mitigation and we will ensure that carriers are kept informed to avoid any complications with the recovery process.

If required, we can recommend UK based Recovery agents with a proven track record of obtaining maximum recoveries from most of the world’s major carriers. We can also work with recovery agents to ensure that our combined expertise results in the best opportunity for successful recoveries.

As a result of established contacts with a number of trusted salvage companies we are also able to provide assistance with disposal of distressed cargoes if required.

Whilst based in the South East of England, travel extensively throughout the country and overseas where required. We also have access to professional consultants with many years of experience should this be required.

In addition, in some circumstances where our attendance is not required overseas we can provide a cost effective management service including appointment of local surveyors and overseeing their reporting of such surveys.
